We did the Milford Sound track on the South Island of New Zealand with our friends Maureen and Geoff at the end of April 2005. Our first multiple day walk and of course we did it the "smelly" way (not the guided option with hot showers, food provided etc.). What a walk. Fantastic, but I suppose you have to be lucky with the weather. Our first one and a half days were pretty poor, it rained (or should I say bucketed down) all day on the second day (hence, almost no pictures from that day). But just when we needed it, the weather changed. And what better day to have perfect blue skies than on the day you walk over the Mackinnon Pass ! Sutherland Falls were a nice short detour (if going up and down the pass wasn't enough for that day...). And finishing the trip with a Kajak tour on the Milford Sound proved to be an excellent decision as well.
